Vehicle Accident Causes Major Damage to South Columbia Home
Columbia Fire Fighters were called at 8:18 am on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 to 3911 West Oak Drive for a report of an injury accident involving a vehicle striking a building.
Fire Fighters arrived and found a bronze Chevrolet Blazer inside the home. The vehicle traveled off of Nifong Blvd., through a field, and entered the rear of the home. The vehicle came to rest in the kitchen and dining room of the home. The occupants were not home at the time of the accident. Fire crews searched the home to ensure no additional victims were inside, secured utilities to the home, and ensured no structural collapse hazard existed. Damage is currently estimated at $20,000 to the home managed by Fairway Management Inc.
The driver of the vehicle was found walking around the scene when emergency crews arrived and was transported by ambulance to Boone Hospital with minor injuries.
