Morning Accident Traps Victim Inside Van

Columbia Fire Fighters were called at 10:44 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2010 to 705 Business Loop 70 West for a report of an extrication accident.

Fire Fighters arrived and found a silver Dodge Caravan on its side, partially off the roadway.  Fire crews discovered one female victim, the driver, trapped inside the vehicle.  Crews used equipment from the Columbia Fire Department's Heavy Rescue Unit to stabilize the van, and then removed the windshield.  It took crews approximately 15 minutes to free the trapped victim through the windshield opening.  The victim was transported to Boone Hospital with minor injuries.

There were no other injuries related to this incident.
