BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Columbia Water & Light is continuing to study ways to serve electric loads and improve reliability for the southwestern part of the city. This project involves adding transmission lines to connect the new Millcreek substation on Peach Tree Drive with some of the existing substations.

In October 2010 Columbia Water & Light staff presented some initial “Option A” routes for this project to the public. At a City Council work session conducted in November 2010, Council directed Columbia Water & Light staff to study alternative transmission line options for the project. This additional transmission line route study is being referred to as “Option B”. The next step for “Option B” is to solicit written feedback. The feedback collected at the September open house meeting will be tabulated and used in the "Option B" evaluation matrix so another report can be made to the City Council. A formal public hearing presenting the “Option A” and “Option B” studies, where public comments will be heard and recorded, will be scheduled later in the winter/spring of 2012 upon the direction of the City Council.
