Thanks to generous support from MU Children's Hospital and the David B. Lichtenstein Foundation, we can provide free seasonal injectable flu vaccine to all children age six months through 18 years. For adults age 19 and older, cost of the injectable vaccine is $25. We accept cash, checks and can bill a variety of insurances. Receipts can be given upon request. We cannot accept debit or credit cards at the community flu clinics. Due to a recommendation from the CDC, the FluMist® nasal spray vaccine will not be offered this season.

Flu vaccine is also available Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the department's clinic, located at 1005 West Worley in Columbia. No appointment is needed; walk-ins are welcome.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the flu vaccine prevented approximately 1.9 million flu-associated illnesses and 67,000 hospitalizations in the 2014-15 flu season.

"Getting a flu vaccine every year is your best protection against the flu," Public Health and Human Services Director Stephanie Browning said. "We encourage anyone over the age of six months to be vaccinated, especially if you have chronic medical conditions, are over the age of 65, or will spend time around a newborn during flu season.
