<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:200%;"><h3 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 170%;">Fourth Operation Clean Streets a success in Central Neighborhood</h3>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;">On Friday, Oct. 7, 56 City of Columbia employees shared their time to participate in the fourth Operation Clean Streets. Employees worked in the Central Strategic Plan Neighborhood by sprucing up streets and sidewalks on Garth Avenue between Business Loop and Ash Street and working in Downtown Optimist Park.</p>
<p>Accomplishments from the event included:</p>
<ul>
<li>14.01 tons of debris and trash were hauled away, most from the streets and sidewalks along Garth.</li>
<li>33 car tires and 20 bike tires were collected.</li>
<li>Trash was picked up throughout the Central Neighborhood.</li>
<li>Spring bulbs were planted at the Downtown Optimist Park sign by children and teachers from the Community Montessori School.</li>
<li>The park playgrounds were re-mulched and the park wall was repainted.</li>
<li>Three dumpsters were made available for residents to use.</li>
<li>Compost was provided to expand the park garden maintained by the neighborhood association. Additional compost has been made available for neighborhood use.</li>
</ul>
<p>Employees love participating in this event. Comments about what they liked most included, "Get to do something that you don't normally do and it helps build some City relations with different neighborhoods," "Working with other staff that I don't interact with on a daily basis," and "Meeting people from different departments and making a noticeable difference in our city."</p>
<p>A fifth Operation Clean Streets is planned for spring 2017.</p></div>
