(COLUMBIA, MO) -
The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 2500 block of Longview Dr. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 3:45 PM. Multiple neighbors called 911 and reported flames from the rear of a residence. Responding units observed smoke visible from Scott Blvd. Fire crews arrived in less than six minutes and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of 2501 Longview Dr.

Crews used preconnected hoses to attack the fire from the exterior, and then transitioned to an interior attack. The fire was brought under control in 25 minutes. While searching the residence for occupants, fire crews found and removed two dogs. After removal from the residence, the dogs were cared for by a neighbor. No occupants were inside the residence at the time of the fire.

The Columbia Fire Department Fire Marshal's Office is on the scene conducting a fire investigation. No cause or damage estimates are currently available. Seven fire units and one medic unit responded to the scene.

More details will be released as they become available.
