MKT Trail now reopened

(COLUMBIA, MO) -
The MKT Trail from Providence to Stadium is now open. That portion of the trail had been closed since July for the Flat Branch Sewer Relief Project 1.

Sewer work will continue in areas adjacent to the MKT, so trail users should continue to use caution. There will be occasional construction traffic until the sewer work is complete.

The closure of the Grasslands connector at E. Clarkson Road will continue until residual sewer work is complete. This concrete connector serves as the access for the heavy equipment needed for the sewer project.

The next part of the sewer project, near Flat Branch Park, is delayed until late fall. At that time, the MKT Trail will be closed from Elm Street through the Providence underpass. A revised detour map will be posted when the next phase of the sewer project begins.

The sewer project involves replacing and upgrading old sewer pipes that serve a large portion of the downtown area. Some of the sewer pipes are the original infrastructure from the early 1900s. Sewer project update information is available on the City's website at CoMo.gov/fbrs.
