(COLUMBIA, MO) -
The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 3709 Chatham Drive on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 10:10 PM. Residents were alerted by their smoke alarms and observed fire in the rear of the residence.

Crews arrived in less than six minutes and found smoke and flames coming from the rear of the structure. Crews used preconnected hose lines to attack the fire from the exterior. The fire was brought under control in approximately 15 minutes. Fire damage was limited to the exterior of the residence, with smoke damage to the interior. No injuries were reported.

Assistant Fire Marshal Joel Pauley is conducting a fire investigation. Pauley has determined the fire originated on the exterior of the residence and spread to the rear wall of the structure. The cause is still under investigation. Pauley estimates the damage at $8,000.
