<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display: inline;">Public Works Street Division crews have reported for duty and are beginning to pretreat Designated Snow Routes before tonight's winter event. </p>
<p style="display: inline;">Total snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is possible. </p>
<p style="display: inline;">Although the City Ordinance requiring vehicles to be moved from snow routes has not yet been initiated, Public Works is suggesting vehicles be moved in anticipation that 2 inches may accumulate very early in the morning. At this point, moving vehicles is voluntary, but once 2 inches of accumulation is reached, cars are subject to a $100 fine and towing/storage at the owners expense. The purpose of moving vehicles to allow room for plows to treat the roads more safely and efficiently.</p>
<div dir="auto">Columbia Public Works crews have been readying equipment and monitoring the forecast all day. Crews will concentrate on the priority routes until snowfall stops and priority routes are passable. As of 9 p.m., snow totals are not expected to total or exceed 4 inches, so residential streets that are not designated snow routes will not be treated or plowed outside of normal hours and then only after priority routes are passable.</div>
<div dir="auto"> </div>
<div dir="auto">Crews will work 12 hour shifts operating an average of 25 trucks and a compliment of mechanics, supervisors and support staff per shift. A new shift currently plans to report at 9 a.m.</div>
<div dir="auto"> </div>
<div dir="auto">MoDOT and Boone County crews will work their priority routes and we do coordinate with those agencies.</div>
