<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:200%;"><h3 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 170%;">Town Hall Meeting to Listen to Experiences with Racial Profiling During Traffic Stops Scheduled</h3>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Discussing experiences, collecting data and analyzing the data related to racial profiling, specifically during traffic stops, has the potential to help our community become a better place for all citizens to live, work, learn and play.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">With this in mind, the City of Columbia will host a Town Hall Meeting on Monday, Jan. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. in conference rooms 1A and B inside City Hall, 701 E. Broadway.</span></p>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The purpose of this Town Hall Meeting is to give individuals or other groups, which have not previously met with the city manager and police chief, the opportunity to do so. Sharing of experiences is an important aspect of learning the perception citizens have formed and realities they have experienced and it promotes the exchange of ideas to effect change.</span><br />
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">City Manager Mike Matthes and Police Chief Ken Burton have met with several local groups since the Missouri Attorney General's Office released the </span><em><span style="font-weight: 400;">2015 Vehicle Stop Report</span></em><span style="font-weight: 400;"> in early 2016. Those groups include Race Matters - Friends, Minority Men's Network and Empower Missouri. A meeting with the local NAACP will be hosted in the future. <br /><br />It is believed that each of these groups as well as the city manager and police chief found these meetings to be insightful and productive.  The meetings which have been held have provided new insight, changed the search consent policy of CPD and provided other ideas to consider as we move forward and continue with this community conversation.</span></p>
