<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:200%;"><h3 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 170%;">Office of Cultural Affairs announces regional Poetry Out Loud competition for area high school students</h3>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;">The City of Columbia's Office of Cultural Affairs will host the central Missouri regional competition for Poetry Out Loud on Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Friends Room at the Columbia Public Library, 100 W. Broadway. The event is free and open to the public. The competition, presented in partnership with the Missouri Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Poetry Foundation, is part of a national program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation.</p>
<p>Winning students from seven area high school competitions are slated to participate in the local Poetry Out Loud contest. The winner of this competition advances to the Missouri state competition on March 9 in Jefferson City. The Missouri champion advances to the Poetry Out Loud National Finals on April 25-26, in Washington, D.C., where $50,000 in awards and school stipends are distributed. For further information on Poetry Out Loud<em>,</em> visit <a href="http://www.poetryoutloud.org" target="_blank">www.poetryoutloud.org</a>.<br /> <strong>Featured contestants</strong>:</p>
