<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:200%;"><h3 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 170%;">Fire on Quail Drive</h3>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial structure fire at 2618 Quail Drive at 3:10am on Friday, February 17, 2017.<br /><br />Fire units arrived less than three minutes later and observed fire and smoke from the back of the building on the lower level.  Fire crews performed an aggressive fire attack using pre-connected hose lines and extinguished the fire in approximately five minutes.  The fire was contained to the kitchen of unit B.<br /><br />Fire investigator Assistant Fire Marshal Mike Bauer determined the cause of the fire was unattended cooking.  Damage is estimated at $1,500.  Smoke alarms alerted the occupants of the fire resulting in timely notification to the fire department providing valuable time to save lives and conserve property.<br /><br />Seven units from the Columbia Fire Department responded to this call.  There were no reported injur
 
 ies.<br /><br />The Columbia Fire Department reminds citizens that working smoke alarms save lives.  Test your smoke alarms at least once a month by pressing the test button.  Replace smoke alarm batteries at least once a year.  Replace smoke alarms every ten years.  To ensure adequate protection, place smoke alarms in every sleeping room and in a common area on every floor.</div>
