(COLUMBIA, MO) -
Two female victims have been transported to a local hospital with gunshot wounds after a shooting in the 1000 block of Madison Street. One of the victim's injuries are life-threatening.

Columbia Police officers first responded to the 1000 block of Madison Street yesterday at 5:45 p.m. after Boone County Joint Communications received multiple reports of shots heard in the area. During the investigation, officers located shell casings in the 1000 block of Madison Street, as well as a residence struck by gunfire in the 500 block of Jackson Street. There were no reported injuries at this time.

At 10:10 p.m. yesterday, Boone County Joint Communications began receiving several more calls of shots heard in the 1000 block of Madison Street. Upon officers' arrival they located two female victims in their early 20's inside a residence in the area with gunshot wounds. Officers administered first aid to the victims prior to Emergency Medical Services arrival. Both victims were transported by ambulance to a local hospital, one with life-threatening injuries and the second with an unknown status at this time. The preliminary investigation has revealed the suspect(s) shot at the residence and bullets penetrated the walls causing injuries to the two female victims.

At this time the Criminal Investigations Division has taken over the investigation. All preliminary information would suggest that these two incidents may be related, however, this is subject to change pending further investigation.

If you have any information regarding these incidents, please contact the Columbia Police Department at (573) 874-7652, or call CrimeStoppers at (573) 875-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.
