(COLUMBIA, MO) -
The 21st annual Cleanup Columbia, a city-wide trash pickup event organized by the City of Columbia's Volunteer Programs, will be held the morning of Saturday, April 8. To date, nearly 1,500 volunteers committed to picking up litter at more than 115 locations have registered to participate in the event.

Volunteers will be along Columbia streets and trails, in our streams and in our parks on April 8 picking up litter. Each group or individual participating selects their own time the morning of the event to conduct their trash pickup.

The City's Volunteer Programs invites the public to participate in the event as there are still several locations that are unassigned. Residents may register online at www.CoMo.gov or by calling 573-874-7499. The City provides bags and gloves for volunteers and will pick up the filled trash bags. Event t-shirts are provided to participants while supplies last and lunch will be provided to volunteers following the cleanup at Twin Lakes Recreation Area.

The City is also asking residents to report locations that are in special need of trash pickup. Residents may complete an online form found on the Cleanup Columbia page of the City's website (www.CoMo.gov) or call 573-874-7499 to report an area needing attention.

Cleanup Columbia is sponsored by Socket, Veterans United, 102.3 BXR, KFRU AM 1400, KOMU TV 8, the Mid-Missouri CW, the Columbia Daily Tribune and Sonshine Graphics. City of Columbia Utilities - Solid Waste and Columbia Parks & Recreation provide in-kind support.
