<p><strong> The crash occurred as vehicle 1 was traveling southbound on Garth Avenue at a high rate of speed, fleeing from an attempted traffic stop by an officer. The officer was not in pursuit of the vehicle, and lost sight of Vehicle 1 due to the erratic driving behavior. Vehicle 2 was traveling southbound on Garth Avenue. As Vehicle 2 attempted to turn left onto Ash Street from Garth Avenue, Vehicle 1 attempted to pass on the left in the intersection, failing to stop for the stop sign. Vehicle 1 struck Vehicle 2 in the intersection. After impact, Vehicle 1 veered left, striking the curb and a utility pole. Passenger 1 was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Next of kin have been notified.</strong></p>
