<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:200%;"><h3 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px; margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 170%;">Officer-involved shooting in the 600 block of Garth Avenue</h3>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;">At 6:25 p.m. today, Boone County Joint Communications received calls regarding a male subject with a firearm in the 100 block of Oak Street. The subject was reported to have been threatening individuals and firing rounds in the area.</p>
<p>Columbia Police officers and Boone County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to the area. Upon their arrival, the suspect began firing rounds at the officers and deputies. A perimeter was established around the suspect, however, the suspect was able to escape the perimeter and fled the area.</p>
<p>The suspect was located on the rooftop of a building in the 600 block of Garth Avenue. The suspect continued to fire rounds at the officers and deputies. A Columbia Police officer returned fire, striking the suspect. The suspect was transported by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to a local hospital for treatment.</p>
<p>The Missouri State Highway Patrol is taking over the investigation, per protocol with any Columbia Police officer-involved shooting. It should be noted that the information contained in this press release is preliminary information and is subject to change pending the full investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Any further questions and/or requests for information regarding this incident should be directed to Sgt. Scott White with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.</p>
