(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 4506 Stevendave Drive on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 12:14pm.

Units arrived less than six minutes later and observed heavy fire in a front room and requested an additional fire company.

Fire personnel deployed two, pre-connected hose lines and performed an aggressive fire attack. Upon entering the home crews observed fire from the basement had worked its way into the main floor. The event was brought under control in approximately fifteen minutes.

Assistant Fire Marshal Mike Bauer was dispatched to perform an origin and cause investigation. Bauer determined the fire originated in the basement and started as a result of a faulty sump pump. Damage was significant and estimated at $150,000.

Nine units from the Columbia Fire Department responded to this
call. There were no reported injuries.
