<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:200%;"><h3 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 170%;">Parks and Recreation completes MKT tree restoration project</h3>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;">The Columbia Parks and Recreation forestry crew planted trees along the MKT Trail corridor to replace those removed during the Flat Branch Sewer Project.</p>

<p>About 180 native trees and shrubs were ordered for planting. TreeKeeper and Adopt-a-Trail volunteers assisted City staff on the project, which took place starting north of the Stadium Boulevard trail access and ending at the Grasslands trail connector. The planting area stretched for about a half-mile.</p>

<p>Last fall and winter, Parks and Recreation staff held a series of public input meetings and conducted an online survey to create the tree restoration plan.  </p>

<p>The City's Sewer Utility provided about $16,000 in funding for the tree restoration project. The funding is beyond the normal turf restoration typically provided for sewer restoration work.</p>
