<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:200%;"><h3 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 170%;">City sweepers will continue to address routine excess chips on 95 streets that were chip sealed during July project</h3>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;">The Columbia Public Works Street Division completed its July Chip Seal Project on Aug. 2.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But the full process is not over.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Street sweepers will continue to sweep up the streets of excess chips, which is a routine practice after chip sealing. Vehicles may continue to drive on chip sealed streets even before they are swept. However, drivers are asked to drive slowly and avoid turning too sharply or spinning tires.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sweeping will continue throughout the summer and into the fall on all of the 95 streets that were chip sealed. Multiple passes may be necessary during this phase. Any </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">markings covered by the chips seal will also be repainted once the chips have settled or have been swept up.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">All of the streets chip sealed in 2017 are scheduled for inspection in the spring of 2018, and most if not all of them will likely be fog sealed next spring or early summer, as the budget allows, to further lock in the chips and further seal the streets from damaging water infiltration.</span></p>
