<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Columbia Public Works announced on Oct. 4</span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">that </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Meyer Electric plans to begin work on the Waco and Route B Intersection Improvement project on Monday, Oct. 9, weather permitting.  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"Much needed improvements for this corridor and heavily used intersection should substantially increase the safety of commuters and everyone working in this vital industrial area of the city," Public Works Director David Nichols said.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Currently, the four lanes on State Route B and the left-turn lane provide through movement while the two lanes of Waco Road must stop.</span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">T</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">he intersection will see increased traffic with the expansion of Kraft/Heinz and the future Aurora Dairy. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">From 2011 through 2015, there were eight crashes at this intersection, seven with injuries. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The intersection improvements include mast arm signals, raised islands, pedestrian crosswalks, and restricted turning movements for the driveways located closest to the intersection. The estimated investment cost is $380,000 funded through the 2015 Capital Improvement Sales Tax.</span></p>
