<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;">New this year, the City of Columbia and the Public Works Department are hosting an educational event called Snow Palooza, on Thursday, Oct. 26, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the City's salt dome.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The event is being held at the LeRoy Anderson Salt Dome Facility at 1101 Big Bear Blvd., where the City's 5,000 tons of salt are stored for the winter as well as the City's plows that are attached to dump trucks, and the brine delivery equipment.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Snow Palooza is an open house style event for the public and media. Everyone is welcome to drop by anytime between 2 and 6 p.m., take a look at the snow fighting materials and equipment (maybe sit in a plow driver's seat), meet City staff and ask any questions you may have.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The purpose of the event is to educate the community about the City's snow-fighting staff, equipment, materials, policies and procedures. Topics include: </span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">How do all Public Works divisions--transit, street, fleet, traffic, engineering, parking--work together? </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">What is MoDOT's role? </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">What does "passable road" mean? </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">When and how are roads and bridges pretreated? </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">How is bus and paratransit service affected by snow? </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">What are priority routes? </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">How does a neighborhood participate in the priority neighborhood pilot program? </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">What size is our fleet? </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Who is responsible for sidewalks? </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">When do plows go into all residential areas? </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">When should parked vehicles be moved off the street? </span></li>
