<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;">Columbia Parks and Recreation will begin bridge replacement work on the MKT Trail on Monday, Nov. 27. A quarter-mile section of the trail will be closed starting that day, from the northeast side of the 3M Wetlands to just southwest of the Stadium Boulevard underpass.</p>

<p>Bridges 5, 7 and 8 will be replaced. The wooden bridges are more than 120 years old.</p>

<p>Parks and Recreation forestry crews will start preparing the site for construction on Nov. 27. The project contractor, Boone Construction, will begin bridge demolition shortly after that date.</p>

<p>The bridge replacement project and trail closure may last through the end of March 2018, weather dependent. Trail detours around the construction site will include a combination of City streets and trails. Trail users are encouraged to take advantage of other City trails or find an alternate route. A trail directory is available at <a href="https://www.como.gov/ParksandRec/Trails/">https://www.como.gov/ParksandRec/Trails/</a>.  The MKT Trail may still be accessed at Flat Branch Park, Forum Nature Area and the Scott Boulevard trailhead.</p>

<p>The project is budgeted at about $761,000 and is funded by the voter-approved Park Sales Tax and a Recreational Trails Program grant.</p>
