Original Press Release: The City of Columbia Sewer Utility and contractor, Twehous Excavating Company, Inc., will begin construction along Hubbell Drive on Monday, Nov. 27 to extend the public sewer main and remove connections to the private common collector in the area. Hubbell Drive will be closed from Walnut Street to Ash Street. Full closure is anticipated to conclude within three weeks of the start date, weather permitting.

This project includes constructing approximately 275 linear feet of sanitary sewer main and relocating a portion of the existing public sewer into the right-of-way. In order to reconnect the 10 properties to the new public sewer main, construction will also include new private service connections and replacement or extension of service laterals.

Funding for this project is estimated at $210,000 and will be paid for with Sewer Utility enterprise revenue. Private Common Collector Elimination (PCCE) 39 along Hubbell Drive was authorized by Columbia City Council through the public hearing process on Nov. 7, 2016. Sewer staff has worked with the property owners to obtain easements and determine main location on the properties.
