<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Fire investigator, Assistant Fire Marshal Jim Pasley, determined the area of origin for this fire was the kitchen. Damage is estimated at $25,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.<br /><br /><br /><br />The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 506 Hunt Avenue on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 2:25pm.<br /><br />Units arrived approximately three minutes later and observed smoke and flames coming from one side of a single story residence.<br /><br />Fire crews deployed a pre-connected hose line and performed an aggressive fire attack. The fire was brought under control in less than ten minutes.<br /><br />An Assistant Fire Marshal is on the scene performing a fire origin and cause investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.<br /><br />One dog was rescued from the home, unresponsive but breathin
g. Fire crews administered oxygen and the dog was taken to a local veterinarian for treatment. One cat was found deceased. There were no other injuries reported.</div>
