(COLUMBIA, MO) -
A full Public Works plow crew is scheduled to report at 7 p.m. to replace the day shift. Crews will continue treating Designated Snow Routes as drizzle and snow continue.

"All major routes had residual salt from the Dec. 26 event," Managing Engineer Richard Stone said. "Trucks have been out since 11 a.m. today with some additional pretreatment for hills, intersections and curves, and monitoring conditions. Depending on whether the drizzle changes to snow or how much lingers as temperatures fall, surfaces could become slick."

Air temperatures are currently forecast to remain around 28 degrees until midnight. If that occurs, surface slickness for treated roads should be limited prior to midnight, Stone said. However, temperatures are predicted to fall drastically overnight. If precipitation continues through midnight, additional aggressive salt treatment will be pursued on Designated Snow Routes, Stone said.

Travel unless absolutely necessary is not advised as sudden slickness is possible. Please drive slowly and cautiously if you must venture out.
