<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - During the month of January, City of Columbia staff members are seeking input on potentially updating the City of Columbia's weed ordinance to better address native landscapes.  <br /><br />The Columbia City Council heard a report on this issue in November 2017 and directed staff to receive public input on the topic.  Under the current code, found in Chapter 11 of the City Ordinance, many Missouri native plants that exceed 12 inches in height may be in violation.<br /><br />There will be a public meeting on this issue on Thursday, Jan. 25 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Friends Room of the Columbia Public Library, 100 W. Broadway.  This will be an open house, drop-in meeting with more information on the subject and opportunity for public comment.<br /><br />Residents can also provide input through an online survey found at <a href="https://www.como.gov/community-development/weed-ordinance
 
 -update/" target="_blank">https://www.como.gov/community-development/weed-ordinance-update/</a> or via hard copy surveys at the Columbia/Boone County Health Department, 1005 W. Worley St., or at the Community Development Service Center on the third floor of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway. Public comment will be accepted through Jan. 31, with potential amendments to the City ordinance sent to City Council by March.</div>
