<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The City of Columbia Drinking Water Planning Work Group will host a public open house on Monday, Feb. 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Activity and Recreation Center (ARC), 1701 W. Ash St. The purpose of the meeting will be to present the group's progress and solicit additional public input prior to the group submitting its recommendations to the Water and Light Advisory Board. Members of the Drinking Water Planning Work Group, City staff and the City's consultant, Carollo, will be on hand to present and answer questions.<br /><br />The Drinking Water Planning Work Group was established by Resolution R48-17A and began meeting in July 2017. The Work Group was created to assist in an update of the 2011 Water Treatment Plant Expansion Preliminary Design Report and to provide guidance to the Water & Light Advisory Board and City Council on the following:<br />1. Review current drinking water regula
 
 tions, including what types of disinfection methods comply with regulations<br />2. Review Columbia's current water supply conditions<br />3. Assess the current state of utility industry and customer-side water treatment technology and cost<br />4. Review and provide input on developed recommendations<br />5. Develop drinking water planning recommendations</div>
