<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The City of Columbia invites the public to attend upcoming meetings regarding the potential licensing, taxation and regulation of short-term rentals in the city. <br /><br />Two public information and input meetings will be held on the following days and times at the Walton Building, 300 S. Providence Road. The content and format for each meeting are expected to be the same; residents and interested parties are encouraged to attend one or both meetings: <br />Monday, Feb. 26, at 6 p.m. <br />Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 3 p.m.<br /><br />Presently, the City of Columbia does not tax or regulate short-term rentals beyond a voluntary health and safety inspection. The City Council has directed staff to evaluate the potential of requiring business licensure and applying the City's existing 5 percent hotel and motel tax as well as sales tax. Additional health and safety regulations and neighborh
 
 ood protection standards may be considered. The public is invited to learn more about short-term rental programs in other municipalities and provide feedback on considerations for the city. Any draft regulations and proposals to emerge from this public input process shall be subject to additional public input and hearing by the City Council. Additional public input may be provided in writing by emailing <a href="mailto: info@CoMo.gov">info@CoMo.gov</a> by noon on March 9 or online at <a href="http://www.visitcolumbiamo.com/columbia/short-term-rentals/" target="_blank">http://www.visitcolumbiamo.com/columbia/short-term-rentals/</a></div>
