<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;">Last night, around <span data-term="goog_553727185">9:00 p.m.,</span> Columbia Police were made aware of a possible threat to Columbia Public Schools, specifically middle schools. That threat was determined not to be credible as it is believed to have originated from a social media account that posted similar threats across the United States. An arrest was made in Ohio in that case. </p>

<p>Early this morning, CPD was made aware of another possible threat to our local public schools that was disseminated over social media. Detectives have determined this was not a threat, but a sharing of the earlier social media post that was investigated yesterday evening. Officers and detectives were sent to multiple schools as a precaution and to follow-up on any information or leads that we were made aware of. </p>

<p>From the beginning of these incidents we have been working closely with Columbia Public Schools to ensure we are operating on the most accurate information possible and working to keep everyone safe. We want to thank all the parents, students, and school staff who promptly shared information with administration and/or the Columbia Police Department. We cannot stress enough how important it is for everyone to be vigilant and as always, if you SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING.  </p>
