<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:200%;"><h3 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 170%;">Juvenile in custody after posting content considered threatening towards Columbia Public School</h3>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;">Columbia Police officers have taken a 13-year-old male juvenile into custody after the juvenile posted content to a social media site that was perceived as threatening.</p>

<p>During the evening hours of Friday, Feb. 23, officers were notified of a post containing content perceived as threatening towards a Columbia Public School, specifically a middle school. In cooperation with Columbia Public Schools, an investigation began and a juvenile was identified as having posted the content. The juvenile's parents were contacted and were cooperative with the investigation. Although the investigation revealed there was no credible threat, the juvenile's post alarmed others and was perceived as threatening. At approximately 12:00 p.m. today, the juvenile was taken into custody for Misdemeanor Peace Disturbance with disposition to be handled by the Boone County Juvenile Office.</p>

<p>We want to recognize and thank Columbia Public Schools for their continued work with our department regarding the incidents that have unfolded over the last few days. To all parents, students, and staff who continue to remain vigilant in promptly sharing information with administration and/or the Columbia Police Department, thank you. Together we can continue to ensure this behavior will not be tolerated and our children's safety is our priority. Remember, if you SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING!</p>
