<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:200%;"><h3 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px; margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 170%;">Street maintenance landscaping project increases efficiency and sustainability, lane closures scheduled on Rolling Hills Road April 9-20</h3>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Columbia Public Works Street Division and the City’s Office of Sustainability are partnering in a street maintenance project to increase maintenance efficiency, reduce maintenance costs and conserve water through the use of sustainable vegetation in the median islands. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">The center portion of the median islands north and south of WW are being modified to reduce required maintenance for the medians, enhance aesthetics by pursuing a more sustainable vegetation-planting plan and to add street trees. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"There are some areas maintained by the Street Division where modifications such as these can make it more efficient from a maintenance perspective. This approach can reduce cost and staff time of maintenance for Adopt-A-Spot locations as well as reduce or eliminate water usage in some areas. The goal is to approach vegetation maintenance that provides a quality level of aesthetics from a sustainable perspective," Public Works Engineering Manager Richard Stone said. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Seth Paul Excavating, a contractor for the City, plans to begin work on Rolling Hills Road median islands beginning </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Monday, April 9,</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> weather permitting</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">This will result in a series of lane </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">closures on Rolling Hills Road between the roundabout with WW and Morning Dove Drive</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">. The work associated with the closure is scheduled to be completed by Friday, April 20 at 5 p.m., weather permitting. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"These maintenance locations are also being designed to function more hospitably to the environment through the use of native plants and to provide curb appeal to the surrounding neighborhood," Stormwater Educator Mike Heimos said. </span></p>
