<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:200%;"><h3 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 170%;">Shooting in the 1500 block of Tupelo Place</h3>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;">Two males were transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds during the early morning hours on Saturday, May 5.</p>

<p>Columbia Police officers responded to the area of Larch Court and Fir Place at 2:26 a.m. in reference to shots heard. The preliminary investigation revealed a crowd of individuals were occupying a parking lot in the 1500 block of Tupelo Place. As officers were approaching, gunfire rang out. A male victim, 31, received a gunshot wound. Officers engaged a potential suspect. One officer fired his weapon towards the suspect. The suspect, 27, fled to a nearby wooded area where he was located with a gunshot wound. Officers rendered first aid to the victim and the suspect until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived. The males were then transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers located a firearm in the area where the suspect was located.</p>

<p>At this time, it is unclear as to whether the suspect was struck by the officer’s gunfire, or the gunfire of another individual in the crowd. The Internal Affairs Unit and the Criminal Investigations Division are continuing to interview involved parties to determine exactly what transpired in the chaotic scene. No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is on-going.</p>
