(COLUMBIA, MO) - On Thursday, May 10th 2018 at 2:02 AM, units from the Columbia Fire Department were dispatched to a residential structure fire at 1506 Hinkson Ave. Crews arrived five minutes later and found a residential structure with heavy fire involvement. Initial reports indicated there was possibly a subject trapped inside, so multiple crews performed aggressive interior fire attack and search operations immediately upon arrival. It was later determined the subject thought to be trapped was not present when crews arrived.

The fire was brought under control in approximately 20 minutes. No injuries were reported. A total of nine fire department units responded to the fire. Damages are estimated at $60,000.

The Columbia Fire Department Fire Marshal's Office conducted an origin and cause investigation and determined the fire was intentionally set. Th
e Columbia Police Department is currently assisting in the investigation. Any further media inquiries should be directed to the Columbia Police Department PIO.
