(COLUMBIA, MO) - As summer is quickly approaching, many youths are beginning to plan what they will do with their new free time. The Youth in Action program is perfect for young people ages 12 to 15 who want to do something meaningful and fun with their time over the summer. Youth in Action participants will connect with others their age while contributing to the community and learning useful skills along the way.

Participants can choose in which events they volunteer. Scheduled projects include helping with the SPLAT! Mud Obstacle Course, the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri and Household Hazardous Waste Collection.

If you are interested in learning more about Youth in Action, the City of Columbia’s Volunteer Programs will be hosting two informational open house events on Thursday, May 17 at City Hall, 701 E. Broadway, in conference room 1C and Thursday, May 25 at the Acti
