Columbia Regional Airport to add second TSA screening line this summer

(COLUMBIA, MO) -
Columbia Regional Airport (COU) will add a second Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screening line in August as part of ongoing upgrades and improvements to the Airport. The second line will decrease the wait time for passengers and improve efficiencies during the screening process.

COU offers daily direct flights to Chicago, Dallas and Denver by American Airlines and United Airlines to benefit those traveling for business and leisure. A record number of passengers flew into and out of COU in May (22,635 travelers in May alone), and it is anticipated that COU will surpass 225,000 total passengers in 2018.

"The continued upward trend in passengers shows that COU is quickly becoming the preferred airport for travelers in the mid-Missouri region," Airport Manager Mike Parks said. "We take our motto ‘There Sooner. Home Faster.’ very seriously and this additional TSA line will help get our passengers through the process and ready for their flight."

To accommodate the second screening line, Enterprise and Hertz Rental Car agencies will be relocated inside the terminal where the 889 Snack Bar currently resides. Vending machines offering a variety of snacks and beverages will continue to be available to travelers in the alcove in the main terminal. In addition, complimentary coffee is now provided in both the American and United gates once passengers complete the screening process.

Passengers should still arrive at least one hour before their flight boarding time. To learn more about the Airport’s preliminary plans for a new terminal and other continued improvements visit FlyCOU.com.
