<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;">Celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month with Columbia Parks and Recreation this July. The month has been designated as such by the U.S. House of Representatives and the National Recreation and Park Association. The City of Columbia is joining the nationwide endeavor; Columbia Mayor Brian Treece signed a proclamation commemorating July as Parks and Recreation Month.</p>

<p>Visit the Columbia Parks and Recreation web site at CoMo.gov for a list of all events planned in July in honor of Parks and Recreation Month.</p>

<p>Columbia Parks and Recreation is also celebrating the month with a Facebook photo contest, "A Lifetime of Discovery," which is the national theme of Parks and Recreation Month. The public is invited to upload photos of friends or family members enjoying a Parks and Recreation event, program, park, trail or recreation facility.</p>

<p>The contest can be accessed through the Parks and Recreation Facebook page, at Facebook.com/ComoParksandRec. The number of Facebook likes each entry gets will be factored into choosing the winner. The grand prize winner for best photo will receive a $100 Parks and Recreation gift card. All photo submissions will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $100 Parks and Recreation gift card. Entries will be accepted through Tuesday, July 31.</p>

<p>Parks and Recreation Month was created to celebrate the value that parks and recreation brings to the community. Parks and recreation agencies not only provide places to get active, explore nature and come together as a community; they also have the power to improve health, increase property values and protect the environment.</p>
