<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:200%;"><h3 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 170%;">Discarded Fireworks Damage North Columbia Residence</h3>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - On Wednesday, July 4th, 2018 at 9:22 PM, units from the Columbia Fire Department were dispatched to a residential structure fire at 3412 Oakland Place.  The first crew arrived five minutes later and found heavy fire coming from an attached two-car garage.  Crews conducted an aggressive fire attack and the incident was brought under control in approximately 10 minutes.  Two people were home at the time of the fire and escaped without injury.<br /><br />The garage and one vehicle sustained heavy fire damage with minor smoke damage throughout the residence.  Damages are estimated at $50,000.  A total of seven Columbia Fire Department units responded to the incident.<br /><br />The Columbia Fire Department Fire Marshal's Office conducted a fire investigation.  It was determined the cause of the fire was spent fireworks being placed in a trash can inside the garage.</div>
