(COLUMBIA, MO) -
Beginning Monday, July 16 at 7 a.m., the City of Columbia Public Works Street Division plans to install speed tables on Rollins Road between Stadium Boulevard and Sunset Drive, weather permitting.

Three speed tables will be constructed at the intersections of Rockcreek Drive, Manor Drive and Ridge Road. Bulb-outs, a type of curb extension, will be installed at Russell Boulevard with crosswalks. The goal of these calming devices is to improve safety by encouraging drivers to slow down.

Rollins Road was identified through the City’s Neighborhood Traffic Management Program. Two interested parties meetings were held on Aug. 23, 2017 and Jan. 18, 2018 to discuss and review plans for the project. The City Council approved the project on June 4, 2018. The estimated investment is $65,000, funded through annual traffic calming funds.

Motorists, pedestrians and nonmotorized transportation users should use extreme caution in the work zone and use alternate routes if possible. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists. Minor delays are expected. The project is scheduled to be completed by 5 p.m., July 19, weather permitting.
