<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Reducing waste means keeping unnecessary items out of the landfill. Two events focusing on restoring, repurposing and repairing items will be held on Saturday, July 28.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">From 10 a.m to 1 p.m., the City of Columbia Historic Preservation Commission will host its annual Architectural Salvage Sale at Rock Quarry Park, 2202 Grindstone Parkway. Materials for sale include </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">doors, windows, trim, old fashioned radiators, fixtures, brick, etc. and</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> have been salvaged from various historic properties. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Items are perfect for remodeling projects, arts and crafts. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Local artist and artisans will be on hand to answer questions and encourage creative uses for the reclaimed materials</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">. <br /></span><span style="font-weight: 400;">FEATURED ARTISANS<br /></span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Catherine Parke (Orr Street Studios): 10 - 11 a.m.<br /></span>Josh Wexler (DrinKraft): 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.<br /><span style="font-weight: 4

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">From 1 to 4 p.m., the Mid-Missouri Solid Waste Management District and the City of Columbia will host a Fix-it Fair at the Armory, 701 E. Ash St. Residents can learn how to fix items such as torn clothing, malfunctioning electronics, squeaky bikes and broken small appliances. Expert volunteers will be on hand to assist with repairs and share helpful knowledge necessary for fixing everyday items.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Accepted items include small appliances (vacuums, kitchen appliances, fans, etc.), electronics (TVs, cell phones, computers, etc.), toys, lamps, small furniture, tools, bikes and textiles (clothes, bags, broken zippers, tents, etc.). </span><strong> </strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">Residents are limited to one item that can be carried in. No microwaves or CRT monitors.</span></p>
