<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - On Sunday, August 12th 2018 at 2:36 PM, units from the Columbia Fire Department were dispatched to 1701 Cliff Drive for a residential structure fire.  The first crew arrived four minutes later and found the rear deck and side of house with heavy fire involvement.  Crews had the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes.  The rear of the structure was heavily damaged with minimal smoke and fire damage to the interior of the residence.  Three occupants were home at the time of the fire and escaped without injury after noticing the fire outside the back door.<br /><br />The Columbia Fire Department Fire Marshal' Office investigated the fire and determined the origin was the rear deck.  The fire was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials.  The fire caused an estimated $20,000 in damages.  <br /><br />The Columbia Fire Department reminds residents t
