<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <strong>UPDATE</strong> - Derrick Smith, 30, was arrested in Memphis, Tennessee at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23 by Memphis Police. Smith is currently in the Shelby, Tennessee County jail on Boone County Warrants for 1st Degree Felony Assault and Armed Criminal Action and felony warrants originating from the state of Tennessee. <br /><br />The Columbia Police Department extends their thanks to Memphis Police for assisting in locating and arresting the wanted individual from Columbia. <br /><br /><br /><br />Original release - Around 6 p.m. on Aug. 22, Columbia police responded to a report of shots heard in the 2900 block of Leeway Drive. An investigation revealed a male had suffered a gunshot wound. The victim was transported by private vehicle to a local hospital before officers arrived. It was later determined the victim has life-threatening injuries.<br /><br />As of this release, Columbia Po
 
 lice remain on the scene processing evidence.<br /><br />Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Columbia Police Department at 573.874.7652, or call CrimeStoppers at 573.875.TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.</div>
