<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="margin: 0in; margin-bottom: .0001pt;"><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; color: 222222; background: white;">Columbia Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with Mid-Mo Railfans, is planning a ceremony to unveil new interpretive signs that will be placed along the MKT Trail. The event will be held Wednesday, Oct. 10 at the Boone County History & Culture Center, 3801 Ponderosa St. Refreshments will be served at 6:45 p.m. with a program set for 7 p.m.<br /><br /></span></p>
<p style="margin: 0in; margin-bottom: .0001pt;"><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; color: 222222; background: white;"> </span></p>
<p style="margin: 0in; margin-bottom: .0001pt;"><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; color: 222222; background: white;">The new signs will reflect the history of the MKT, which was built on the old railbed of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (M-K-T) Railroad’s Columbia branch. Four signs will be installed along the City- and Boone County-owned sections of the trail at locations that were known as flag stops, as well as a sign at Flat Branch Park.<br /><br /> </span></p>

John Wilke and Marty Paten of Mid-Mo Railfans will share history of the railroad. Keynote speaker Mike Offineer will share a presentation highlighting his 41 years working on the railway, including serving as a brakeman on the M-K-T Railroad.<br /><br /> </span></p>
