<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Since 1995, several disability-related organizations have hosted a Columbia Disabilities Issues Forums to give political candidates for a variety of offices the opportunity to present their ideas to the disability community and to answer questions from citizens who are interested in disability-related issues.<br /><br />The City of Columbia Disabilities Commission and a coalition of local organizations are hosting another Columbia Disabilities Issues Forum for the upcoming elections:<br /><br />Columbia Disabilities Issues Forum<br />Thursday, Oct. 18<br />Woodhaven, 1403 Hathman Place<br />11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.<br /><br />The forum will be a discussion with candidates for the Missouri State House of Representatives (state house districts 44, 45, 46, 47 and 50) for the Nov. 6 election. All candidates have been invited to participate in the forum: Maren Bell and Cheri Toalson Reisch for District 4
4; Kip Kendrick for District 45; Martha Stevens and Cathy Richards for District 46; Adrian Plank and Chuck Basye for District 47; and Michela Skelton and Sara Walsh for District 50.<br /><br />The forum will be a moderated format, each candidate will present an opening statement and the moderator will then pose questions relating to disabilities issues surrounding the community.<br /><br />Sign language interpreters will be present.<br /><br />The partnering organizations hosting the forum are the following: ACT, Boone County Family Resources, Boone Supported Living, Central Missouri Subcontracting Enterprises, Columbia Disabilities Commission, Easterseals Midwest, Great Plains ADA Center, Job Point, LEAD, Missouri Disability Empowerment (MoDE), MORE Group, People First of Boone County, Services for Independent Living, TIPS / MoLEND and Woodhaven.</div>
