(COLUMBIA, MO) - The City of Columbia invites the public to attend two upcoming meetings regarding the potential regulation of short-term rentals (STRs) in the city. A short-term rental is a dwelling unit rented out for a short period of time either informally or via an online platform/website including, but not limited to, AirBnB.com or VRBO.com.

In response to public feedback obtained in February and April 2018, text changes to the Unified Development Code (UDC) have been produced. The upcoming meetings are to solicit additional public feedback regarding the text changes prior to the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council taking action on this matter. The text changes include a new definition for STRs, three "tiers" of regulations (Type I, Type II, or Type III) and revisions to the permitted use table.

The upcoming input meetings will be held in con
ference rooms 1A/1B at City Hall, 701 E. Broadway. The content and format for each meeting are expected to be the same. Residents and interested parties are encouraged to attend one or both meetings. Meeting dates and times are as follows:

Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m.

The proposed meeting schedule, text changes and supporting information are available at CoMo.gov/community-development/planning
