<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:145%;"><h3 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 170%;">City of Columbia dissolves one deputy city manager position</h3>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display: inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Interim City Manager John Glascock announced on Friday, Jan. 4 that one of the two deputy city manager positions has been eliminated to increase efficiencies within city government. The elimination of the position is effective today at 5 p.m.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The position has been held by JJ Musgrove since April 13, 2017. Musgrove was responsible for overseeing the departments of Information Technology, Law, Parks and Recreation, Human Resources, and Public Health and Human Services. These department directors will now report directly to Interim City Manager John Glascock.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The City will provide three months separation pay in accordance with Section 19-102(e) and (f) of the City of Columbia Code of Ordinances.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"Hard decisions need to be made as the City is committed to running as efficiently as possible in all departments. I'm setting the example by starting with the City Manager's Office," Glascock said. "However, we're still dedicated to providing a high level of service to our community."</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Musgrove was hired as the director of the City's Office of Cultural Affairs on Aug. 29, 2013 and was appointed to the deputy city manager position in 2017.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"We thank JJ for his time with the City in both the Office of Cultural Affairs and the City Manager's Office," Glascock said. "JJ served our vibrant arts and culture community with a wealth of knowledge and experience and we appreciate his dedication."</span></p></div>
