<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The major winter storm that began on Friday, Jan. 11 is affecting travel and power in Columbia and across the central Missouri area. All available City resources are being utilized to respond to the storm. Staff members from many City departments are working around the clock to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our community members. <br /><br />Road crews from Columbia, Boone County and MoDOT are out in force. As the snow continues to fall, crews will continue to work on priority routes (see <a href="http://www.CoMoSnow.com">CoMoSnow.com</a> for details). Travel is not recommended. Restrictions on Priority Snow Routes in Columbia are being enforced and residents are asked to remove vehicles from marked priority routes to allow for easier snow clearing. Vehicles not removed may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense. <br /><br />The Columbia Police Department encourages residents to sta
 
 y home. If you do have to get out on the roads and are involved in a non-injury motor vehicle crash, please exchange information with the other driver(s) and continue to your destination. You can report the accident online at <a href="http://www.CoMo.gov/police/online-reporting-forms">CoMo.gov/police/online-reporting-forms</a>. If you are involved in an accident with injuries, call 911 immediately.<br /><br />Numerous power outages are occurring due to the heavy snow causing trees and limbs to sag on power lines. Crews are being assigned to restore power as soon as possible. The City has requested mutual assistance from other electric utilities to help in restoring power to the increasing number of customer outages throughout the city. Currently, crews from Macon, Palmyra and Rolla are responding to our request. Contractors PAR Electrical and Asplundh are also helping in their areas of expertise. You may report a power outage by calling 573.875.2555 and view current outages
