<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;">A 22-person crew began treating and plowing priority routes in Columbia today, Feb. 15. at 10:30 a.m. Street Division crews began loading and preparing the fleet yesterday afternoon and continued treating bridges, curves, raised elevations and intersections on priority routes earlier this morning.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Snow was in the upper atmosphere for about an hour before it began reaching the ground," Public Works Engineering Supervisor Richard Stone said. "Once it began reaching the ground it has been accumulating fairly rapidly and expectations are that it will be overwhelming pavements through the afternoon."</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><br /></span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Driving is not recommended during an active weather event. Please drive with extreme caution. There is still some concern for conditions during this evening’s rush hour between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. although snow is expected to taper off by then. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Accumulations appear to be nearing 2 inches. Once that happens, no parking will be permitted on priority routes. Anyone parking on priority routes at that time are subject to a $100 fine and towing at the owner’s expense. Sign up for parking alerts for when enforcement of the 2-inch rule begins, by texting COLUMBIAPW to 888-777. </span></p>
