(COLUMBIA, MO) - A 21-person City of Columbia plow crew reported at 7 p.m. Feb. 16 continuing work on neighborhood streets. A 42-person crew is scheduled for 7 a.m. Feb. 17.

At this point City plow crews have been either pre-treating or responding to the current weather event during three consecutive 12-hour shifts and now beginning their fourth with a fifth shift in the morning.

The evening crews will focus on making all neighborhood streets passable by a front-wheel drive vehicle as soon as possible but will need to transition back to priority snow routes once snow or ice begins, currently forecast around 10 p.m.

A glaze of ice (0.05") may occur with snow meaning overnight potential slick conditions. Significant icing is still possible but not expected at this point.

Forecast is for precipitation expected to end Sunday morning with pavement temperatures climbing
above 32 mid morning which may aid response.

Once the new wave of winter weather begins please avoid travel unless absolutely necessary.
