<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:145%;"><h3 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 170%;">City of Columbia earns Bicycle Friendly Community silver designation</h3>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;">The City of Columbia recently earned a renewal as a Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) at the silver level by the League of American Bicyclists. Columbia is one of 464 communities across the country to receive the BFC designation.</p>

<p>The BFC silver award will be current until 2022. This most recent designation is a renewal of the last silver designation made in 2014.  </p>

<p>The BFC award recognizes the City of Columbia’s commitment to improving conditions for bicycling through investment in bicycling promotion, education programs, infrastructure and pro-bicycling policies.</p>

<p>The City’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Commission submitted the application for the award. The application, along with public surveys of local cyclists and bike advocates, was considered by the League of American Bicyclists when awarding the silver level designation.  </p>

<p>The five levels of the BFC award - diamond, platinum, gold, silver, and bronze, plus an honorable mention category and a no designation level - provide a clear incentive for communities to continuously improve. The League of American Bicyclists provides feedback and guidance to every applicant community, regardless of award designation, with the goal of helping every community to improve. Awarded communities must renew their status every four years to ensure that they not only maintain existing efforts, but also keep up with changing technology, national safety standards, and community-driven best practices.  </p>
