<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:145%;"><h3 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px; margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 170%;">Carter Lane sidewalk project scheduled to begin April 1 with northbound lane closure</h3>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The first project of this year’s slate of Columbia Public Works Capital Improvement Program projects is scheduled for construction from April 1 to May 31, weather permitting.</span></p>
<br />
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Rhad Baker Construction plans to begin construction on the Carter Lane sidewalk at 7 a.m. on April 1, weather permitting. During the day when construction is occurring, the northbound lane on Carter Lane will be closed with flaggers present to direct traffic in alternating directions. The Providence Road-Carter Lane connection (and the southbound turning lane from Providence Road onto the connection) will also be closed while work is ongoing. When construction workers are not in the area, all lane restrictions and closures will reopen for the evening.</span></p>
<br />
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This project will include the installation of a new 6-foot-wide sidewalk on the east side of Carter Lane from Huntridge Drive to Foxfire Drive. Victoria Drive and a private driveway just north of Victoria Drive will have a new concrete approach constructed so that the pedestrian path meets ADA requirements. These approaches will be replaced one side at a time so that the drives remain open. </span></p>
<br />
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The estimated investment is $161,800 with partial funding from MoDOT’s Transportation Alternatives Program. An interested parties meeting was held on Sept. 6, 2017, followed by a public hearing and final approval on June 18, 2018.</span></p>
<br />
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Motorists, pedestrians and nonmotorized transportation users are urged to exercise caution when in the work zone.</span></p>
